Tri Tran

Tri Tran’s journey began in Vietnam, where he discovered his passion for makeup and beauty at just 18 years old. Inspired by the artistry around him, he started learning the secrets of makeup from only the best local talents. Within a few years, Tri mastered Asian hair and makeup techniques and became known as one of the best Asian makeup artists.

Driven to share his skills, Tri opened his makeup school in Vietnam, where he spent nine years teaching artists and perfecting various Asian makeup styles. During this time, he worked with high-profile clients, reality TV shows, red carpet events, and appeared in top magazines like Elle Vietnam and Harper’s Bazaar.

Tri’s work became known for its versatility, as he believed that makeup is not just one “signature” style. Instead, he saw it as diverse, colourful, and full of possibilities—an art form that could adapt to each person’s natural beauty, attire, and the theme of the event. For Tri, the job of a makeup artist was not to impose a single style but to carefully choose the best look and style to highlight the unique qualities of every client, based on that particular time and event.

But Tri wanted to go beyond what he already knew. To answer the question, “How can I best create different looks for different clients, or even the same client?” he set out to learn from the best. He travelled to Korea and learnt directly under Jung Saem Mool, Korea’s top celebrity makeup artist, where he uncovered the secrets of flawless, dewy, and glowy makeup that has become iconic in Korean beauty. With this knowledge, he returned to Vietnam, but his thirst for learning didn’t stop there.

Tri made the bold decision to move to Australia, where he studied at award-winning schools like The Makeup Technicians (TMT) and Cameron Jane Makeup Academy. He spent years refining his craft, exploring new techniques, and working with clients from different backgrounds. After four years, Tri founded Something Beauty House in Sydney—a luxury hair and makeup service dedicated to embracing authenticity.

His dedication and talent soon earned him international recognition. In 2023, Tri won multiple awards from the International Beauty Industry (IBI), one of the most independent and fairest competitions, where entries are judged completely anonymously. Tri took home the prestigious Best Bridal Makeup (IBI) Award and was a finalist for both the Best Glam Makeup and Best Editorial Makeup awards.

In 2024, Tri’s excellence shone once more as he became a winner at the Australian Beauty Expo’s Face2Face Makeup Awards, earning top honours for Best Editorial Makeup and Best Bridal Makeup.

With these achievements, Tri has firmly established himself on both the Australian and global stage as an internationally recognised makeup artist, solidifying his reputation as one of the best in the industry.
